Steve Coppell sacked as ATK manager, Antonio Lopez Habas poised to take over



Steve Coppell has been sacked by ATK after a disappointing season in which they finished sixth. He was informed of the decision last night. Former ATK manager Antonio Lopez Habas is all set to take over with the negotiations between him and ATK at the final stage. Antonio Lopez Habas will sign a 3 year contract with ATK as ATK look to build long term.













Steve Coppell (bottom) started out his managerial career with Crystal Palace and had huge success with the London based club. He led Crystal Palace to the 1990 FA Cup final ans well as a third place finish in the English top flight the following season. After a short stint with Manchester City, a few other short spell with Crystal Palace, and spells with Brentford and Brighton, he signed a contract with Reading. It was with the Berkshire based club where he set a record for the Championship points total , amassing a total of 105 points. He came to India in 2016 and led Kerala Blasters to the final of the ISL. He joined Jamshedpur FC in 2017 and after leading them to a fifth placed finish in their inaugural season, he joined ATK ahead of the 2018-19 season. After a disappointing season where he failed to lead ATK to the playoffs despite having one of the biggest budgets in the league, he was sacked by the club yesterday.

Spaniard Antonio Lopez Habas (top) is all set to take over as he aims to lead ATK back to glory. He led ATK to the ISL title in 2014 and the playoffs in 2015.
